Pregnancy, weight loss, and the natural aging process can take their toll on a woman’s breasts. Drooping breasts are caused by weakened breast tissue that has succumbed to gravity. This can cause a great deal of low self-esteem and quality of life issues for many women. A Breast Lift, also known as “Mastopexy,” is a safe, effective procedure that can restore youth and vitality to a woman’s figure.
What is a Breast Lift?
A Breast Lift is a cosmetic procedure that changes the position of the breasts to improve nipple and breast position as well as overall appearance. A Breast Lift corrects sagging breasts, making them look younger and more aesthetically pleasing.
The procedure is completed in our Silver Spring office. Dr. Dillon specializes in Breast Lifts that look natural while adding noticeable lift. Incisions are made in cosmetically accepted areas to remove saggy skin and reposition the nipple.
Some patients may wish to increase their breast size when having a Breast Lift. In that case, Dr. Dillon will perform a Breast Augmentation in conjunction with a Breast Lift, either using your body’s own fat to add volume or implants made from silicone or saline for more noticeable volume.
*Benefits of a Breast Lift
- More attractive breasts
- Look and feel younger
- Reverses sagging breasts
- Improved self-esteem and quality of life
Dr. Dillon performs the procedure using a general anesthetic in our office. Both the nipple and areola are placed in the correct position, and the excess tissue is removed, allowing the doctor to mold the breast into a more youthful, pleasing shape.
Following your surgery, you must refrain from heavy lifting and physical activity for approximately 4-6 weeks. Patients will experience swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort in the first two weeks after the procedure. In the following weeks, patients may need to wear a special bra to support their breasts while they heal. Dr. Dillon encourages patients to sleep on recliners to ease chest pain. The chest area will also be wrapped to help reduce swelling. Patients can return to work within 1-2 weeks, and resume normal activity within 4-6 weeks. A supportive bra should also be worn to allow the breasts to adjust to their new contour.
